Preparing for Adulthood Casework Manager ((phone number removed)) Job title: Preparing for Adulthood Casework Manager (SEND), Southend-on-Sea Contract: Permanent Salary: £55,224-£60,905 depending on experience About the role A local authority in Southend-on-Sea is looking for an experienced SEND professional to lead its Preparing for Adulthood service. You will manage the EHC planning and review function for young people in Year 9 and above. You will supervise a team of EHC coordinators and help young people move into post-16 education, employment and adult services. Key responsibilities Manage and develop a team of EHC coordinators, including supervision, appraisals and performance management. Plan and commission post-16 SEND placements, including out-of-area and specialist provision. Lead on complex transitions into adult health and care services. Resolve difficult cases with young people and families and prevent escalation to tribunal. Represent the council at SEND Tribunal hearings and chair multi-agency meetings and annual reviews. Promote supported internships, supported employment and workplace experiences. Deliver training for parents, carers and professionals, and support service planning and Area SEND inspections.About you Extensive knowledge of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and post-16 provision. Experience of managing staff, including supervision and coaching. Experience of securing specialist provision and managing complex casework. Strong communication skills, with confidence in presenting, training and tribunals. Strong partnership working with schools, colleges, families and other professionals. Local authority experience is highly desirable. A degree or equivalent is required. You must be able to travel within and outside Southend. The role requires an Enhanced DBS (children and adults).
