Financial Controller

Lead the finance team. Influence investment decisions. Help shape business performance.

If you enjoy combining financial control with commercial decision-making, this role offers the opportunity to do both.

Working closely with the CFO of an established, growing business, you will take ownership of day-to-day finance and develop the team around you. You will also play a key role in assessing growth opportunities, understanding performance across multiple sites and helping operational leaders improve profitability.

It is a position for someone who likes to understand the detail, ask thoughtful questions and turn financial analysis into practical decisions.

What you will be doing

• Leading and developing the finance team, setting clear priorities and high standards.
• Overseeing management accounts, site-level reporting and financial controls.
• Leading budgets, forecasts and cash flow planning.
• Explaining margin movements and identifying opportunities to improve performance.
• Building financial models to evaluate acquisitions and investment opportunities.
• Managing audit, statutory reporting and compliance.
• Improving systems and processes to make reporting more efficient and useful.

What you will bring

You will be an experienced Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or Head of Finance with strong technical knowledge and a hands-on approach.
Multi-site P&L experience, financial modelling capability and a track record of managing people are central to the role. You will be comfortable discussing performance with senior stakeholders, challenging assumptions and maintaining accuracy under scrutiny.
Experience within a private equity-backed business would be particularly valuable. Sector experience is less important than your ability to understand how a business makes money and what drives its margins.
You will ideally be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, although candidates with substantial relevant experience demonstrating equivalent capability will also be considered.
