SpLD Assessor

Pay Rate: £35.00 - £40.00 per hour

A Further Education College in North London is seeking an experienced SpLD Assessor to support predominantly 16-19-year-old learners. This SpLD Assessor opportunity focuses on carrying out Exam Access Arrangements assessments, producing clear recommendations, and ensuring compliance with current JCQ regulations so students receive the appropriate support in examinations.

Day-to-day of the role

• Conduct specialist assessments for learners requiring Exam Access Arrangements.
• Assess students with Specific Learning Difficulties, including dyslexia and related learning needs.
• Produce accurate assessment reports with clear recommendations in line with JCQ guidance.
• Maintain detailed and compliant assessment records.
• Work closely with SEND teams, Learning Support staff, curriculum teams, and examinations officers.
• Support the implementation of approved access arrangements for exams and controlled assessments.
• Keep up to date with JCQ regulations and best practice in SpLD assessment.
• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with safeguarding, GDPR, and internal policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Level 7 qualification in Assessing Specific Learning Difficulties, or equivalent.
• Current qualification enabling the assessment of Exam Access Arrangements under JCQ regulations.
• Proven experience carrying out diagnostic assessments for SpLD learners.
• Experience working in Further Education, schools, or other post-16 settings.
• Strong report-writing, communication, and organisational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage records accurately.
• Desirable: experience supporting 16-19 learners in an FE environment.
• Desirable: knowledge of EHCPs and wider SEND support needs.
