Financial Controller – Care Sector, Private Equity Backed

£60k - £70k depending upon experience and qualification/fully remote working

A growing care home group with private equity backing is looking for a Financial Controller to take charge of finance across a portfolio of its homes. You'll be the finance lead the operational team relies on. You'll partner with the Regional Managing Director and home managers, and manage a small team of your own.

The role

• Owning monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for your portfolio, including management accounts, board packs and performance commentary
• Delivering clean, timely numbers into group consolidation and investor reporting
• Working alongside operational leaders to spot opportunities, challenge costs and lift site profitability
• Building budgets and operating plans for the portfolio and holding the business to them
• Managing and developing your finance team, with clear objectives and proper support
• Overseeing payroll for salaried staff
• Running the audit process and contributing to year-end tax work
• Keeping VAT, PAYE and benefits-in-kind reporting compliant, and bringing in tax advisers when required

About you

• A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA - would consider nearly or part qualified), ideally with a numerate degree
• At least five years' finance experience in businesses on a growth path, with multi-site experience strongly preferred
• Background in a PE-owned business or a group reporting structure
• Experience of reshaping or strengthening finance processes
• Confident with finance systems and highly capable in Excel, including pivot tables and macros
• A people-focused style that builds credibility with operational, non-finance colleagues
• A long-term view of risk and value creation
