Purchase Ledger Clerk

Birkenhead | £13.00 - £15.00 per hour DOE | Part-Time (21 Hours Per Week) | Flexible Working Hours | Ongoing Temporary Assignment (Minimum 6 Weeks)

A business based in Birkenhead is seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join its finance team on a part-time temporary basis. This role is expected to last a minimum of 6 weeks and offers flexible working hours across 21 hours per week.

This is a hands-on, transactional finance role ideally suited to an experienced purchase ledger professional who can quickly integrate into the team and manage day-to-day accounts payable duties with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Matching invoices to purchase orders and resolving discrepancies.
• Reconciling supplier statements and investigating outstanding items.
• Dealing with supplier queries and maintaining positive supplier relationships.
• Processing credit notes and allocating payments.
• Assisting with supplier payment runs.
• Maintaining accurate supplier account records.
• Ensuring invoices are authorised and processed within agreed timescales.
• Supporting month-end purchase ledger activities.
• Maintaining accurate finance records and documentation.

Person Specification

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger Clerk, Accounts Payable or similar finance position.
• Strong invoice processing and supplier reconciliation experience.
• Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Confidence dealing with suppliers and resolving queries.
• The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Experience using finance or accounting software packages.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills.

Desirable Experience

• Experience using Sage accounting software.
• Experience working within a busy accounts payable environment.
• Exposure to high-volume invoice processing.
• Experience supporting payment runs and month-end procedures.
