Grass & Holm is looking for up to two fully qualified Senior Accountants to join its Bromley practice. This is a hands-on accounts-and-tax role for someone who enjoys taking ownership of client relationships, managing a varied SME portfolio and helping junior colleagues develop. There is no statutory audit, allowing you to focus on accounts, corporation tax, personal tax, VAT, management accounting and practical support for owner-managed businesses.

The salary is £48,000-£58,000 depending on experience. The position is permanent and full-time and requires at least three days per week in the Bromley office. The final hybrid pattern will be confirmed based on performance during probation. Grass & Holm cannot provide visa sponsorship for this vacancy, so applicants must be able to take and continue in the role without employer sponsorship.

The role

You will manage an allocated portfolio of SMEs and owner-managed businesses, which may include limited companies, sole traders, contractors and partnerships. You will be a principal contact for your clients and will take responsibility for accurate, timely accounts and tax work.

What you will do

• Prepare and review statutory accounts.
• Prepare and review corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Prepare and review VAT returns.
• Prepare management accounts and support related client work.
• Manage client relationships, respond to queries and act as a principal contact.
• Review the work of junior staff, provide constructive feedback and support their development.
• Manage deadlines and maintain quality across your allocated portfolio.

What you will bring

• Full ACA or ACCA qualification is essential. As this is a qualified position, it is not open to QBE or AAT-only applicants.
• Strong, recent experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Experience managing client relationships and taking responsibility for an allocated portfolio.
• Strong practical knowledge of accounts preparation, corporation tax, personal tax, VAT and management accounting.
• The judgement and organisation to manage work independently while contributing to the wider team.

Software

Grass & Holm currently uses TaxCalc, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks and Dext. Experience with comparable practice and cloud-accounting software is welcome; you do not need experience in every named package.

Progression

The role offers progression to Senior Manager. For a suitably capable long-term candidate, partnership may also be possible.
