Maintenance Engineer - Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled Location: Exeter, Devon Salary: Up to £57,500 + Bonus + Enhanced Overtime Shifts: Days, Rotating Shifts & Continental Patterns Available Benefits: 10% Employer Pension | Private Healthcare | Excellent Sick Pay | 6x Life Assurance Are you a Maintenance Engineer looking for excellent earning potential, long-term career opportunities and the chance to work on a genuinely interesting range of industrial machinery? Perhaps you're an experienced Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineer looking for a new challenge, or a mechanically biased engineer keen to develop your electrical skills and progress towards becoming fully multi-skilled? We're working with a large, globally recognised manufacturer in Exeter that's continuing to invest heavily in its production facilities, equipment and engineering capabilities. With a well-established engineering department, an extensive range of specialist machinery and ongoing investment in technology and people, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business that genuinely values its engineering function. What makes this opportunity stand out? Unlike many maintenance positions where engineers spend their shifts working on the same production lines, this site offers genuine technical variety. You'll be working across a diverse range of heavy industrial, mechanical, electrical and automated equipment, with the opportunity to develop new skills, get involved in engineering projects and work alongside a large team of experienced engineers. The business also places considerable emphasis on developing its people, offering funded technical qualifications, opportunities to broaden your engineering capabilities and genuine long-term career progression. And the benefits package is one of the strongest you'll find in the local engineering market. This is what you'll be doing: As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining, fault finding and improving a wide range of industrial production equipment. Depending on your technical background, your responsibilities will include: Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across a variety of heavy industrial and automated machinery. Electrical fault finding on three-phase systems, motors, drives, inverters, control panels, sensors, relays and contactors. Diagnosing faults on PLC-controlled equipment, including I/O diagnostics and associated electrical systems. Mechanical maintenance involving hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, motors and associated machinery. Working with specialist production equipment, automated systems and complex mechanical assemblies. Identifying and resolving equipment faults to minimise downtime and improve plant reliability. Supporting equipment installations, upgrades and commissioning projects. Contributing to ongoing improvements in maintenance practices, equipment performance and reliability. Working closely with an experienced engineering team in a safety-focused manufacturing environment. The experience you'll bring to the team: We're interested in speaking with Mechanical, Electrical and Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineers from a variety of industrial and manufacturing backgrounds. Ideally, you'll have: A recognised Level 3 engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent technical experience. Previous experience maintaining and fault finding industrial or manufacturing machinery. Strong electrical or mechanical fault-finding capabilities within your respective discipline. For electrically biased engineers, experience with three-phase systems, motors, drives, control panels and PLC-controlled equipment. For mechanically biased engineers, experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, bearings, gearboxes and industrial machinery. A logical approach to diagnosing faults and identifying the root cause of equipment failures. A positive attitude towards safety, teamwork and continuous improvement. You don't need to arrive as a fully multi-skilled engineer. The business is equally interested in strong Mechanical Maintenance Engineers who are keen to develop their electrical capabilities. With funded electrical qualifications and ongoing technical training available, this is an excellent opportunity to broaden your skill set and progress towards becoming a fully multi-skilled engineer. And this is what you'll get in return: Alongside the opportunity to work within a technically interesting and well-invested engineering environment, you'll receive an excellent salary and benefits package. Salary up to £57,500, depending on shift pattern and technical experience. Annual Company Performance Bonus, providing additional earning potential. Enhanced Overtime Rates, with opportunities to increase your earnings. 10% Employer Pension Contribution, offering excellent long-term financial benefits. Private Healthcare Provision. Excellent Company Sick Pay, providing additional financial security. 6x Annual Salary Life Assurance. Generous Annual Leave Entitlement, including additional Christmas shutdown arrangements where applicable. Funded Technical Qualifications, including electrical training and opportunities to complete HNC-level qualifications. Career Development & Progression within a large, established engineering department. Continued Investment in production equipment, facilities and engineering technology. Various Shift Patterns Available, including days, rotating shifts and continental arrangements. Why consider this opportunity? There are plenty of Maintenance Engineer positions offering competitive salaries, but finding one that combines excellent earning potential, technical variety, long-term development and a genuinely strong benefits package isn't quite so common. This is an opportunity to join a successful manufacturer that continues to invest in its engineering department, giving engineers the tools, training and support to develop their careers. Whether you're an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer looking for a new challenge, an Electrical Engineer who enjoys complex fault finding or a Mechanical Engineer keen to expand your electrical knowledge, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
