Systems Engineer
Derby | 4 days on site | Full-Time | Permanent | Defence
A leading independent nuclear engineering group is looking for a Systems Engineer to join its Derby-based team on a major defence programme. You’ll shape system requirements, interfaces and architecture, and you’ll help keep safety information controlled and up to date across a large body of engineering data. They are looking for a graduate +3 years experience to deliver systems engineering across their client project.
The Role
Systems engineering
Produce and manage requirement specifications
Manage interfaces between mechanical, electrical and process systems
Define system architecture and model system functions and interfaces
Work with requirements management tools (DOORS preferred) and model-based systems engineering software (Capella preferred)
Safety data and configuration
Coordinate safety information so it is managed centrally in a single DOORS safety module
Model the safety case decomposition (Level 0 to Level 4) and maintain links to supporting evidence
Produce metrics and status reports for senior leaders
Carry out data audits and spot checks, and suggest process improvements
Collaboration
Work with safety teams, engineering and technical staff, project management teams and document controllers across the programme
Early priorities include updating safety goals, creating missing links between safety goals and safety functional requirements, and producing a major baselined versions of the modules. A methodical approach to large data sets matters however training in the safety process and DOORS will be provided.
