Job Summary

• Position: SEND Teaching Assistant

• Location: Huyton

• Contract: Full-time, long-term

• Hours: Monday to Friday, school hours

• Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

• Start Date: ASAP

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will provide high-quality 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. You will work closely with teaching staff and the wider support team to promote positive learning, emotional wellbeing and inclusion.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.

• Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication and learning difficulties.

• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

• Adapting activities and resources to meet individual learning needs.

• Using positive behaviour support and appropriate de-escalation strategies.

• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.

• Supporting pupils both academically and pastorally throughout the school day.

Requirements

The school is looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant who is:

• Experienced working with children or young people with SEND.

• Patient, resilient and nurturing in their approach.

• Confident supporting challenging behaviour and emotional regulation.

• Able to build positive relationships with pupils.

• Committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

• Ideally experienced within a school, SEND setting or similar environment.

Previous experience supporting Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex learning needs would be highly advantageous.
