Agency Social Worker – Child in Need (Only)

Office attendance: 1–2 days per week

Are you an agency social worker looking for focused, meaningful work where you can build strong relationships with children and families without court work, Child Protection plans, or care proceedings? This is a rare opportunity to work exclusively with children supported under Child in Need plans in North & Mid Devon.

You will join a welcoming and stable service with a permanent management team and Advanced Social Workers, offering regular reflective supervision and strong professional support. Practice is restorative and strengths based, with real encouragement to use professional judgement and creativity.

This is a team that values thoughtful, proportionate social work and trusts its practitioners.

Your role will involve implementing family led, outcome focused Child in Need plans following assessment, working closely with children, young people, and their families to promote safety, stability, and improved wellbeing. Caseloads are designed to enable meaningful direct work.

You will be supported by a wide range of specialist services, including the Private Fostering Team, Edge of Care Team, in service IDVAs, Promoting Stability Team, exploitation specialists, and experienced in-team Family Practitioners. Substance misuse workers will soon be embedded within the service, and strong business support remains in place in every team.
