Construction & Development Finance Solicitor

PQE: 3 – 7year PQE

Salary: 3 – 5 years PQE - £70k plus; 5 – 7 years PQE - £80k plus

My client is seeking an experienced Solicitor with a strong background in non-contentious construction law and development finance to join their London office. The successful candidate will act primarily for lenders funding property development and construction projects, advising on the construction package that underpins the development as well as the associated finance and security arrangements. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction solicitor looking to expand their expertise in lender-side development finance, or for an established real estate finance solicitor with substantial construction law experience. The successful candidate will have direct contact with lender clients and play an important role in developing the firms offering across construction, development finance, and secured lending.

The role will include

• Reviewing and negotiating JCT and other building contracts
• Professional appointments and consultant agreements
• Collateral warranties and third-party rights
• Assignments, novations and step-in rights
• Performance security and other contractual protections
• Professional indemnity insurance provisions
• Development agreements and construction-related agreements
• Construction due diligence and lender reporting
• Conditions precedent relating to construction documentation
• Development and real estate finance
• Property and security documentation; and
• Liaising with monitoring surveyors and other professional advisers.

We are looking for a solicitor with demonstrable non-contentious construction experience in the above who understands the risks arising on development projects and, importantly, can analyse and report those risks from a lender's perspective.

Experience of real estate finance, secured lending or acting for banks and other funders on development finance transactions would be highly advantageous.

The role provides an opportunity to combine specialist construction expertise with sophisticated lender-side property and development finance work and to contribute to the continued growth of this area within the firm.
