Backend Engineer (Mid-Senior)

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 + Bonus + Benefits

We're supporting a rapidly growing technology business that is transforming the digital automotive experience through modern, customer-focused technology.
This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative engineering team building scalable backend services and cloud-native applications. You'll work across the full software development lifecycle, helping turn complex business requirements into robust, high-performing solutions whilst contributing to architectural decisions and engineering best practices.
What You'll Be Doing
Designing and building scalable backend services using Python.
Developing cloud-native applications within AWS environments.
Contributing to system design, architecture and engineering standards.
Working closely with Product, Design and wider business teams.
Supporting code reviews, technical discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Building solutions within a modern microservices architecture.
Mentoring engineers and sharing technical knowledge across the team.
What We're Looking For
Strong Python development experience.
Experience building scalable backend systems and APIs.
Exposure to frameworks such as Django, FastAPI or similar.
AWS cloud experience.
Understanding of distributed systems, object-oriented design and software engineering best practices.
Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL.
Knowledge of Kafka, Kubernetes or containerised environments would be advantageous.
Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
