Warehouse & Procurement Assistant - Hemel Hempstead (Maylands)

£26,000-£28,000 equivalent | Temporary to Permanent | Monday to Friday

Looking for a role that offers more variety than a traditional warehouse position? This could be just what you're looking for!

Think Specialist Recruitment are working with a growing business that has recently moved into new offices in the Maylands area of Hemel Hempstead. As they establish their new local operation and continue to build their team, they're looking for a reliable, hands-on Warehouse & Procurement Assistant to join them.

This is a varied opportunity combining practical warehouse duties with elements of procurement administration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being physically active at work but is equally comfortable using a computer and keeping accurate records.

You'll play an important part in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, helping to ensure stock is managed effectively, deliveries are processed accurately and orders are dispatched on time. As part of a small and growing team, you'll also have the opportunity to contribute ideas, help improve processes and make the role your own.

The opportunity:

  • Salary: £26,000-£28,000 equivalent, depending on experience

  • Location: Maylands, Hemel Hempstead - fully office/warehouse based

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, approximately 40 hours per week

  • Start times: Choose an 8:00am, 8:30am or 9:00am start

  • Contract: Initially temporary, with the intention of moving to a permanent position during 2027

  • Start date: Ideally within the next few weeks

What will you be doing?

This is a hands-on, varied position where no two days need to look exactly the same. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving, unloading and checking incoming deliveries, identifying any damaged, missing or incorrect items.

  • Organising and storing goods efficiently, ensuring stock is easy to locate and warehouse space is used effectively.

  • Picking, packing, labelling and preparing orders for dispatch, ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.

  • Maintaining accurate stock records and updating inventory information using computerised systems.

  • Supporting stock checks, inventory reconciliation and the investigation of any discrepancies.

  • Assisting with procurement administration and related record-keeping as required.

  • Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy, organised and compliant with health and safety procedures.

  • Using warehouse equipment safely, such as pump trucks and pallet stackers, where required. Training will be provided.

  • Working closely with colleagues and other departments to keep operations running smoothly.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve organisation, efficiency and processes within this developing warehouse function.

What are we looking for?

We're keen to hear from candidates who enjoy practical work, take pride in getting things right and are happy to get involved wherever needed.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Previous warehouse experience, with an understanding of stock control, goods inwards, order picking or dispatch.

  • A reliable, hardworking and proactive approach, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves.

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage stock and follow processes accurately.

  • Basic computer skills, including some knowledge of Excel.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.

  • A flexible attitude and the confidence to adapt as the business and its processes develop.

  • The ability to commute reliably to the Maylands area of Hemel Hempstead.

You don't need to be an Excel expert or a procurement specialist. What matters most is that you have relevant warehouse experience, are comfortable with basic administration and are keen to take on a role that offers a little more variety.

Why consider this opportunity?

This is a great chance to join a business at an exciting stage of its development. You'll be joining a relatively new team, working in newly established premises and helping to build an efficient warehouse operation from the ground up.

With a mix of practical responsibilities and administrative exposure, this role could suit someone looking to broaden their experience and develop their skills beyond a traditional warehouse position, with the longer-term opportunity to secure a permanent role.
