Sharp Consultancy is partnering with a well-established business in Huddersfield to recruit an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk on a temporary basis. This role has been created to provide additional support to a small finance team during a particularly busy period.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts payable professional who can quickly integrate into a team environment and make an immediate impact. The successful candidate will assist with managing a high-volume purchase ledger function, ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time while supporting the wider finance team with daily operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing a high volume of purchase invoices
• Matching, batching and coding invoices
• Reconciling supplier statements
• Investigating and resolving invoice and payment queries
• Preparing payment runs
• Processing credit notes and expenses
• Maintaining accurate supplier records
• Liaising with suppliers and internal departments
• Supporting month-end activities as required
• Providing general assistance to the finance team during a busy period

About You

• Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable position
• Ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
• Confident communicator with strong customer service skills
• Proficient in Excel and accounting software packages
• Immediately available or available at short notice
