Pastoral Support Assistant | Calne

£90-£105 per day | Part-Time & Full-Time Opportunities | Flexible Start Dates

Are you passionate about supporting children's emotional wellbeing and helping them reach their full potential?

A welcoming primary school in Calne is looking for caring, patient and resilient Pastoral Support Assistant to support pupils with their social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Whether you're looking for occasional supply work to fit around your existing commitments or a full-time, long-term opportunity, there are flexible options available to suit your availability.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Psychology graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers or anyone interested in counselling, mental health or child development who wants to gain valuable experience in a primary school setting.

What will you be doing?

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you'll be:

  • Providing one-to-one support for pupils who need additional emotional or behavioural support.
  • Helping children manage anxiety, regulate their emotions and build confidence.
  • Supporting small-group activities focused on wellbeing, social skills and positive relationships.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and participation in learning.
  • Building trusting relationships with pupils and providing consistent reassurance.
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and the wider pastoral team to support pupils' individual needs.

Why apply?

  • Part-time and full-time opportunities available.
  • Flexible start dates to suit your availability, with opportunities to start as soon as a suitable role becomes available.
  • Choose occasional, ad hoc supply work or explore full-time, long-term placements.
  • Gain valuable experience supporting children's mental health, wellbeing and additional needs.
  • The chance to make a genuine difference to children's school experiences.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, empathetic and resilient, with a calm and positive approach.
  • Confident building relationships with children and communicating effectively with staff.
  • Passionate about children's education, emotional wellbeing and personal development.
  • Able to remain calm and supportive when children experience difficulties with their emotions or behaviour.

Previous experience working with children or vulnerable individuals would be beneficial, but a relevant qualification is not essential. A positive attitude and a genuine desire to support young people are just as important.

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.

If you're looking for flexible supply work or a longer-term opportunity, in Calne, where you can develop your experience and make a real difference to children's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
