Supporting the Legal Cashiering Team

Jane Gorse Recruitment is recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join an established law firm in Hale. You’ll support the Legal Cashiering Team, helping to keep transactions accurate, payments running smoothly and financial records in excellent shape.

The role

Working closely with the legal cashiers and wider business, you’ll get involved in:

• Posting transactions accurately to client and office ledgers.

• Processing payments, cheque requests and account transfers.

• Completing daily bank reconciliations.

• Helping prepare weekly payment runs.

• Maintaining financial records and investigating ledger queries.

• Supporting month-end processes and VAT returns.

• Assisting with petty cash and residual client balances.

• Following the procedures that keep client money protected and accounts compliant.

• Providing cover for colleagues and suggesting ways to improve everyday processes.

What you’ll bring

We’re keen to hear from candidates with accounts experience, strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.

You’ll be someone who:

• Enjoys working with numbers and checking that everything adds up.

• Has experience with financial transactions, reconciliations or maintaining accounts records.

• Communicates clearly and confidently with colleagues.

• Can organise a varied workload and meet deadlines.

• Handles sensitive financial information with care and discretion.

• Is comfortable using accounts software and learning new systems.

• Takes pride in being helpful, reliable and accurate.

Experience within a legal accounts team would be useful. If your background is in a different sector, please highlight your relevant accounts experience and interest in moving into legal finance.
