Barnsley | 6-Month Contract | Up to £29,000 | Immediate Start

Sharp Consultancy is working exclusively with a Barnsley-based business to recruit a Purchase Ledger Clerk on an initial 6-month contract. This is a great opportunity to join an established finance team, support the day-to-day running of the accounts payable function and make an immediate impact.

The business is looking for someone with a good understanding of purchase ledger who can hit the ground running, work well within a team and take a proactive approach to their workload. Experience with CIS would be advantageous, but it isn't essential.

With an immediate start available, this opportunity would suit someone who is available at short notice and is looking for their next contract within a busy finance environment.

The role

Working as part of the wider finance team, your responsibilities will cover all aspects of purchase ledger, including:

• Processing supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Matching, batching and coding invoices against purchase orders where required.
• Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies.
• Handling supplier queries and maintaining positive working relationships.
• Supporting payment runs and ensuring invoices are paid in line with agreed terms.
• Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring invoices are processed in a timely manner.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the finance team to support the smooth running of the department.
• Assisting with CIS-related duties where required, although training can be provided.

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working within a purchase ledger or accounts payable role.
• A good understanding of the end-to-end purchase ledger process.
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
• A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to manage your workload effectively.
• Someone who enjoys working as part of a team and is happy to get stuck in.
• CIS experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
• The ability to start immediately or at short notice would be highly advantageous.
