Our client is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join its highways and infrastructure team on a permanent basis. The role will involve the optioneering, design and assessment of highway structures, including bridges and retaining walls, while providing technical leadership within a small design team. Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor design teams undertaking structural analysis, optioneering and feasibility studies Design and assess bridge, retaining wall and other highway structures Prepare tenders, detailed designs, contract documents and technical reports Provide technical analysis, practical guidance and experience-based leadership across structures projects Work collaboratively with internal teams and other disciplines to deliver an integrated service Identify innovative solutions that provide best value for clients and project stakeholders Support and develop junior members of the design team through mentoring and knowledge sharing Promote strong health and safety, environmental, quality and CDM practices throughout project delivery Job Requirements: Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline Professional engineering qualification or demonstrable progress towards professional registration Significant experience in bridge engineering and highway structures design or assessment Strong knowledge of structural design codes, including Eurocodes and British Standards Understanding of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works and CDM regulations Strong technical design, structural analysis and practical problem-solving skills Project management experience relating to bridge design or other infrastructure disciplines Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership and time management skills Benefits: Permanent opportunity within the highways and infrastructure sector Opportunity to contribute to a varied structures programme of work Scope to lead projects and influence innovative engineering solutions Support for professional development and progression Collaborative working environment with opportunities to mentor junior engineers If you are an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer with a strong background in highway structures, design and technical leadership, apply now to join our client's professional infrastructure team
