Technical Delivery Lead About the Business

Our client is a leading UK business operating in a high-volume operational environment and backed by a private equity firm. With significant growth plans through to 2028, technology is a key part of the strategy to improve operational efficiency, scalability and customer service.

The business is now looking for an experienced Delivery Lead to join its IT function and own the delivery roadmap across software development and infrastructure.

The Role

This is a newly created position offering the opportunity to make a real impact across a growing and evolving IT function.

You'll own and prioritise the IT project backlog, working closely with development, infrastructure and business stakeholders to ensure resources are focused on the projects that deliver the greatest commercial value.

This isn't a traditional Project Manager position. We're looking for someone with strong technical understanding who can work confidently with developers and infrastructure specialists, scope work, challenge estimates, manage dependencies and translate business requirements into effective technical delivery plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and prioritise the IT project backlog and quarterly delivery roadmap.
• Coordinate projects across software development and infrastructure.
• Translate business requirements into clearly scoped, deliverable work.
• Manage timelines, dependencies, risks and competing priorities.
• Work closely with technical and infrastructure leads to ensure solutions are scalable, supportable and aligned with the wider IT strategy.
• Coordinate releases, testing, change control and deployment.
• Manage third-party suppliers and delivery dependencies.
• Ensure projects affecting multiple operational sites are planned to minimise disruption.
• Provide clear reporting and visibility to senior stakeholders and the executive team.
• Own and improve the use of Jira across IT, including workflows, boards, reporting and Agile ways of working.
• Coach and support teams in effective Jira and delivery practices.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines technical credibility with strong delivery and stakeholder management skills.

You'll ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Delivery Lead, Technical Project Manager or similar within a software development environment.
• Experience delivering IT infrastructure projects alongside software development.
• Strong technical understanding and the ability to work effectively with developers and technical teams.
• Experience with PHP/MySQL or a similar web technology stack.
• Experience delivering cloud, network, hardware or multi-site infrastructure projects.
• Strong practical Jira experience, including workflows, boards and Agile delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to prioritise based on business value.
• The ability to operate effectively within complex or legacy IT environments.

Desirable Experience

Experience with AWS, Azure, cloud migration, microservices, API-first architecture, multi-site deployments or ITIL/change management would be advantageous.
