Commercial Manager - UK

International Transport & Logistics | £60,000+ Basic + Car Allowance + Commission

Location: UK-based, ideally North of London / Midlands / surrounding areas
Working Pattern: Remote, with regular UK customer visits and occasional travel to Spain.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a well-established, family-owned international transport and logistics business as it continues to expand its presence in the UK market.

Founded in 1958, the business has grown significantly over the decades and now operates a fleet of more than 500 trucks and 600 box trailers, supported by an established international network across the UK and Europe.

Specialising in international road transport between Spain and the UK, the business moves hundreds of loads every week, supporting customers across a range of sectors with ambient, chilled and frozen transport solutions.

With continued growth and ambitious plans to strengthen its UK presence, the business is looking to appoint a commercially driven individual who can identify, develop and secure new business opportunities, helping drive the next stage of its expansion.

The Role

Reporting into the wider commercial leadership team, you will take ownership of new business development across the UK, targeting customers who require reliable international transport solutions, particularly on Spain-to-UK routes.

This is a hands-on, new-business-focused role suited to someone with an established understanding of the international transport market, who can confidently build relationships, identify opportunities and convert them into profitable business.

Working remotely, you will manage your own diary, organise customer meetings and spend time developing relationships with prospective and existing clients. You will also work closely with the wider European team to ensure a joined-up approach to commercial growth and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, target and win new business opportunities across the UK, with a particular focus on Spain-to-UK transport.
• Develop and execute a proactive sales strategy to increase market presence, revenue and transport volumes.
• Build relationships with key decision-makers across sectors requiring international road freight solutions.
• Arrange and attend customer meetings, presentations and commercial negotiations.
• Develop a strong pipeline of opportunities, converting prospects into long-term customers.
• Negotiate commercial agreements and pricing structures to secure profitable business.
• Manage and develop customer relationships, identifying opportunities for account growth and repeat business.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure customer requirements can be delivered effectively.
• Monitor performance against key commercial KPIs, including new customer acquisition, loads, kilometres sold and revenue.
• Collaborate with the wider international team, with regular visits to the Spanish headquarters to strengthen relationships and understand the business.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be an established commercial professional within the transport or logistics sector, with the experience and confidence to generate new business from day one.

Essential experience:

• Proven experience in business development or commercial sales within international transport, road freight or logistics.
• A strong understanding of Spain-to-UK transport routes and the associated customer market.
• A demonstrable track record of winning new customers and generating revenue.
• Experience selling transport capacity, road freight or related logistics solutions.
• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently in a remote-based role.
• The commercial awareness to identify profitable opportunities and deliver against sales targets.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and visit the Spanish headquarters when required.
