A well-established specialist family law firm with a strong regional reputation is looking to appoint an Experienced Family Paralegal to join its Nottingham team as part of its continued growth.
The firm prides itself on delivering high-quality, practical legal advice alongside a personal and client-focused service. It also places real value on creating a positive working environment, offering its employees the support, flexibility and development opportunities needed to build a long-term career.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Family Paralegal to join a growing private family law team, providing support across a varied caseload of family matters.
Working closely with solicitors and other fee earners, you will play a key role in progressing cases, maintaining high standards of client care and ensuring matters are handled efficiently. The position offers scope to build on your existing experience, develop your technical abilities and take on greater responsibility over time.
Your duties will include:

  • Supporting a varied caseload of private family law matters, including divorce and separation, financial remedy proceedings and private children matters.
  • Assisting with cohabitation disputes, TOLATA claims, pre- and post-nuptial agreements and separation agreements.
  • Providing support on protective injunctions and associated proceedings.
  • Taking initial client instructions, gathering relevant information and maintaining regular communication throughout cases.
  • Drafting legal documents and correspondence, preparing court bundles and managing case-related paperwork.
  • Liaising with clients, solicitors, counsel, courts and other relevant third parties.
  • Conducting legal research and assisting with case preparation ahead of hearings.
  • Monitoring deadlines, maintaining accurate records and ensuring files progress in a timely manner.
  • Providing general case-management and administrative support to solicitors and fee earners.

You will receive ongoing guidance and supervision, with the opportunity to expand your knowledge, strengthen your technical skills and gradually take on more responsibility within the team.

About You

The firm is seeking an experienced Family Paralegal with a background in private family law, a strong understanding of case management and a genuine commitment to delivering excellent client care.
You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Family Paralegal or in a similar family law support position.
  • Practical experience across private family law matters, particularly divorce, financial remedy and private children work.
  • Strong drafting, research and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive client matters with professionalism and empathy.
  • A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • The confidence to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
  • Experience using legal case-management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • An understanding of time recording, file management and the commercial requirements of private practice.

Experience with TOLATA claims would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
This opportunity would suit someone who has already developed a solid grounding in family law and is looking to further their expertise within a specialist firm that values its people and supports their long-term development.

What's on Offer?
  • Full-time and part-time working options.
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Flexible start and finish times, where possible.
  • Potential for hybrid working once an established caseload is in place.
  • Regular supervision and file reviews.
  • Strong administrative and operational support.
  • Opportunities for career progression and professional development.
  • Discretionary bonus opportunities.
  • An additional day off for your birthday.
  • Christmas office closure.
  • Additional annual leave based on length of service.
  • Workplace pension.
  • Death-in-service cover.
  • Health cash plan.
  • 24/7 remote GP access.
  • Social events for employees and their families.
  • Free nearby park-and-ride parking.
The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Family Paralegal to join a growing specialist practice where you can build on your existing experience, broaden your technical knowledge and develop your career within a supportive and collaborative team.
