A leading Essex charity, my client is seeking an experienced Finance Assistant / Assistant Accountant to join them in the role of Senior Finance Officer at their head office in Southend. My client offers significant home / hybrid working options.

Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Finance and working as part of a professional, friendly and supportive team, key duties will include:

• Processing and coding purchase invoices
• Statement reconciliations
• Assisting with processing weekly BACS payment runs
• Daily and monthly bank reconciliations
• Support with income administration, including banking cash and cheques
• Service charge query resolution
• Support with weekly cashflow forecasting
• Monitoring supplier contracts and tendering process
• Producing and entering journals
• Preparation of insightful reports for non-finance stakeholders
• Assisting with audit queries
• Overseeing and supporting 2 x Accounts Assistants

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have strong transactional accounting and bookkeeping experience, combined with confident systems and IT skills including Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups). Experience of working in a small to medium size finance team and a strong team work ethic will be key.
