Make a Difference. Shape Futures. Create Extraordinary Days.

Are you an experienced Senior Children's Support Worker or Team Leader looking for an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people?

We are recruiting for a Team Leader / Senior Children's Support Worker to join a dedicated team at a children's residential home in Foulridge, near Colne.

This is an opportunity to help create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where young people feel valued, listened to and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Whether it's helping a young person achieve a personal goal, enjoying an activity together, offering encouragement through a difficult day or simply taking the time to listen, the little things can make the biggest difference.

The Role

As a Team Leader / Senior Children's Support Worker, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the home, supporting young people with their routines, emotional wellbeing and personal development, while providing guidance and support to the wider team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising, supporting and mentoring a team of Residential Support Workers.
  • Leading by example and ensuring children receive consistently high standards of care.
  • Supporting daily routines, including getting young people ready for school, preparing meals and organising activities.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships and providing emotional support.
  • Promoting individuality and recognising that every young person has different needs and aspirations.
  • Monitoring care plans, maintaining accurate records and preparing reports for management.
  • Providing regular updates to the Home Management Team.
  • Planning and participating in activities, including day trips, community groups, creative projects and movie nights.
  • Supporting young people to develop independence, confidence and life skills.
  • Helping maintain a safe, welcoming and homely environment.
  • Completing an average of 8 overnight sleep-in shifts per month.

You will also be required to use an electronic care recording system daily to document and update young people's records accurately. Training will be provided.

About the Home

The home is a large, detached property situated on the edge of a village in Foulridge, providing a welcoming and homely environment for children and young people.

The service supports young people with emotional and behavioural needs, with a strong focus on helping them develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.

There are several communal areas within the home, allowing young people to spend time together, enjoy activities or have their own space when needed. Importantly, young people are encouraged to have a say in how their home looks and feels, helping create an environment that reflects their personalities and preferences.

The team actively encourages young people to get involved in local youth groups, clubs and community activities, discover new interests and enjoy positive experiences outside the home.

The overall aim is to provide stability, encouragement and opportunities for every young person to achieve their personal, social and educational goals.

About You

We are looking for someone who genuinely cares about making a difference and has the experience and confidence to lead and support a team within children's residential care.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a senior or supervisory role within children's residential care.
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare or Children's Workforce (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting, mentoring and developing team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A warm, patient and consistent approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • A flexible approach to working, including weekends on a rota.
  • Confidence using electronic care recording systems.
  • A full manual UK driving licence.
What's on Offer?
  • £39,184 annual salary, inclusive of an average of 8 sleep-ins per month.
  • £1,000 Refer a Friend scheme.
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training.
