Production Shift Leader (Fermentation)
Up to £44,000 Evening Shift
Farnham, Surrey
37.5 hours per week

Ready to step up and lead a team? This is a hands-on Shift Leader role with a well-known UK gut health brand, paying up to £44,000.

You'll lead a small fermentation team making live bacteria supplements that are sold across the country. It's a role for someone who enjoys being on the production floor themselves, setting the pace for the shift and making sure everything is done safely, correctly and to a high standard.

Why apply?
  • Up to £44,000 per year
  • Permanent role with a respected, growing health brand
  • A small team of 4 to 5 operators to lead and develop
  • A genuine leadership role where you stay hands-on
  • Reporting directly to the Head of Operations
  • Working pattern, Monday to Thursday, 6pm to 2am, Sunday, 6am to 2pm - Fridays and Saturdays off
What you'll do
  • Lead the start-of-shift huddle and turn the production plan into clear priorities for the team
  • Allocate work across the team based on priorities, skills and resources
  • Work alongside your operators to prepare, start, monitor and complete fermentation batches to SOPs
  • Respond to process deviations and carry out first-line troubleshooting on equipment
  • Make sure production records are accurate and batch traceability is maintained
  • Coach and train your team so everyone is confident and competent in their work
  • Keep the Head of Operations updated on progress, risks and anything that needs support
  • Hand over clearly to the next shift
  • Set the standard for safety, hygiene, GMP and housekeeping
What you'll need
  • Solid experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Experience working to SOPs, GMP or similar regulated quality standards
  • Experience guiding, training or coordinating colleagues, formally or informally
  • Clear, confident communication and the ability to brief a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • A calm, organised approach under pressure
  • Food Safety / Food Hygiene Level 2, or willingness to achieve it during probation
  • Full UK driving licence
  • It would be great if you also have
  • Supervisor, chargehand or senior operative experience
  • A background in fermentation, food, nutraceutical or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Experience delivering team briefings or on-the-job training
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent
You don't need to have worked in fermentation before. If you've led or trained people in a regulated production environment and want to take the next step, we'd love to hear from you.
