Assistant Accountant

• Location: St Helens
• Salary: £34,000 - £40,000
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm (Office Based)

A successful and growing business within the manufacturing sector is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. This is a varied role offering exposure to both transactional finance and month-end accounting duties, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further their career within a supportive and established organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the production of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Maintain purchase ledger and sales ledger activities, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on time.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and assist with month-end procedures.
• Support payroll administration, cash flow monitoring and payment runs.
• Work closely with operational teams across the business, providing financial and administrative support where required.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or Finance Assistant role.
• Strong understanding of purchase ledger, reconciliations and month-end processes.
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
