The Opportunity We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join an established engineering and infrastructure client, overseeing a varied portfolio of electrical works. Projects will range from maintaining and improving existing installations to delivering larger upgrade and investment schemes. You’ll take ownership of projects on a day-to-day basis, bringing together technical teams, specialist contractors and suppliers to keep work moving and ensure commitments are met. The position combines practical project delivery with commercial oversight, client liaison and responsibility for maintaining high standards on site. The work is predominantly within the water industry, so experience in water or wastewater environments would be advantageous. However, candidates from other relevant engineering, utilities or industrial backgrounds will also be considered. What You’ll Be Doing Take responsibility for assigned projects, coordinating activities from mobilisation through to final handover. Develop realistic delivery plans, arranging the people, equipment, materials and external support needed for each scheme. Keep a close eye on expenditure, forecasts and project profitability, addressing issues before they affect the overall outcome. Coordinate site teams and specialist contractors, ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and delivery priorities. Maintain a safe working environment and ensure activities meet relevant electrical regulations, site requirements and contractual standards. Work directly with customers to discuss progress, agree priorities and manage expectations throughout the project. Assess changes to project scope, identify potential delays and resolve issues that could affect cost or delivery. Keep project documentation, schedules and progress updates accurate and up to date. Work with colleagues across engineering, procurement and operations to overcome technical challenges and maintain momentum. Promote a practical, quality-focused approach to project delivery, with an emphasis on reliable outcomes and positive client relationships. What We’re Looking For A recognised electrical qualification, such as an NVQ Level 3, completed apprenticeship or equivalent. Around 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical project management, site delivery or a comparable engineering role. A sound understanding of electrical installations, site activities and safe working practices. The ability to organise resources, coordinate contractors and keep multiple project priorities under control. Experience monitoring project costs, managing budgets and dealing with changes to agreed work. Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work effectively with clients, engineers and subcontractors. A structured approach to planning, problem-solving and project administration. Confidence using Microsoft Office and standard project reporting systems. A full UK driving licence. Experience That Would Be an Advantage Previous involvement in water, wastewater, utilities or industrial engineering projects. Experience with maintenance programmes, electrical refurbishment or asset improvement works. Exposure to capital investment projects and larger-scale engineering upgrades. Familiarity with NEC3 or NEC4 forms of contract. Knowledge of low-voltage and high-voltage systems, including relevant site authorisations where applicable. Experience working on MEICA schemes or multidisciplinary engineering projects. Additional industry qualifications, such as the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or inspection and testing certifications. An HNC, HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline
