Job Title: Secondary Core Subjects Tutor Location: Wigan Hours: 5-15 hours per week Start Date: October 2026 Duration: Ongoing About the Role Prospero Teaching is seeking a versatile tutor to provide personalised academic support to secondary-aged learners who need additional help with their studies. The role focuses on strengthening core subject knowledge, improving engagement and helping pupils make progress towards their educational targets. The successful candidate will be able to adapt sessions to meet individual learning needs and abilities. Key Responsibilities Deliver one-to-one tuition in appropriate core subjects, particularly Maths and English Identify gaps in knowledge and develop targeted learning activities Reinforce key curriculum topics and study skills Set achievable targets and monitor progress Adapt resources and teaching methods to support individual learners Encourage confidence, motivation and independent learning Experience, Training and Qualifications QTS, PGCE or equivalent relevant teaching qualification desirable Good subject knowledge in Maths, English or other relevant core subjects Previous teaching or tutoring experience Experience supporting learners who need additional educational help Strong communication, organisation and planning skills Essential Requirements Right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain the required clearance Two professional references Prospero Teaching is acting as an employment business and education recruitment agency in relation to this vacancy.
