The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced and commercially minded Buyer to join a growing and fast-paced organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong procurement experience who enjoys building supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting operational requirements, managing supplier performance, and helping to drive continuous improvements across the procurement function.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure materials, products, and services in line with business requirements.
• Manage supplier relationships, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery expectations are consistently met.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to achieve best value.
• Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Monitor stock levels and demand forecasts to maintain continuity of supply.
• Work closely with Operations, Production, Sales, and Finance teams to support business objectives.
• Analyse spending data and procurement trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Resolve supplier issues and delivery delays, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Support supplier performance reviews and ongoing vendor management activities.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting.

About You

• Previous experience in a Buyer, Procurement Coordinator, Purchasing Officer, or similar procurement role.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Excellent commercial awareness and analytical ability.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, Pivot Tables, and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Experience working with ERP, MRP, or procurement systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• CIPS qualification (or working towards) would be advantageous.
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering, distribution, or supply chain environments.
• Knowledge of inventory management and demand planning processes.
