Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor Birmingham | Site Based | Outside IR35 | Ongoing Contract About the Company Our client is an established civil engineering contractor delivering complex construction and infrastructure schemes. Due to ongoing project requirements, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with an experienced freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor. The Role An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a site-based assignment in Birmingham. The role will suit a commercially strong QS with a solid civil engineering background and extensive experience working with NEC contracts. You will take responsibility for the commercial management of works, working closely with the project and operational teams to maintain strong cost control and contractual performance. Key Responsibilities * Commercial management of civil engineering works * Administration of NEC contracts and contractual obligations * Preparation, submission and agreement of compensation events * Management of subcontract packages, applications and payments * Cost forecasting and preparation of commercial reports * Management of valuations, variations and change * Monitoring project costs, risks and commercial opportunities * Maintaining accurate commercial and contractual records * Liaising with site teams, subcontractors and other project stakeholders * Supporting the successful commercial delivery of the project Experience & Requirements * Strong experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering * NEC contract experience is essential * Proven experience managing the commercial aspects of civils projects * Strong knowledge of compensation events, change management and cost control * Experience managing subcontract packages * Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent preferred * Confident working within a site-based project environment * Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills * Able to work independently and manage competing priorities If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Tabitha Crabtree at Kenton Black
