Financial Controller

We're partnering exclusively with a successful, long-established business to recruit a Financial Controller for a key operational site in North Wales.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys being at the heart of a business, leading a team and working closely with senior leadership. The current postholder is approaching retirement after a lengthy and successful tenure, making this an excellent opportunity to step into a well-established role with genuine autonomy and responsibility.

The business forms part of a larger, highly successful group with revenues exceeding £1 billion, while the local operation generates approximately £25 million in annual turnover across two interconnected companies.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, you will be the most senior finance professional on site and take ownership of the finance function across two entities.

Leading a team of three, you'll oversee all day-to-day financial operations while providing meaningful financial insight to support business decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts through to trial balance
• Cash flow forecasting and treasury management
• Balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
• VAT returns and statutory compliance
• Payroll oversight and reconciliation
• Stock accounting, valuation and reporting
• Supporting year-end audit processes
• Producing financial reports and analysis for senior management
• Managing and developing a small finance team
• Acting as the key finance contact for the site and wider group finance function

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with qualified accountants who enjoy a hands-on role and are comfortable operating in a fast-paced commercial environment.

Ideal experience includes:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
• Previous Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior finance experience
• Production of management accounts through to trial balance
• Cash flow forecasting and reporting
• Stock accounting and costing experience
• Team leadership or management experience
• Strong systems knowledge, including Sage 50
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
