Ready to take ownership of financial reporting and have a genuine influence on how a finance function operates?
Robert Half are working with an established, growing UK healthcare group to recruit a Financial Reporting Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business operating in an interesting and evolving sector, taking ownership of its financial reporting, strengthening financial controls and helping drive improvements across the wider finance function.
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the business has accurate, meaningful financial information to support decision-making, while providing technical leadership and developing the capability of the wider team.
This isn't a role where you'll simply be overseeing the numbers. You'll have the opportunity to shape processes, challenge existing ways of working and work closely with senior finance and operational stakeholders.
The opportunityYou'll take ownership of the monthly reporting cycle, ensuring management accounts, Group submissions and financial reporting are delivered accurately and to deadline.
Your responsibilities will include:
Financial reporting: Lead the month-end close and production of management accounts, board packs and Group reporting submissions, providing meaningful variance analysis and commentary.
Financial control: Take ownership of balance-sheet integrity, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, journals and key control processes.
Commercial insight: Work alongside senior stakeholders to explain financial performance, challenge variances and support better business decisions.
Planning & forecasting: Support budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting, with responsibility for the financial reporting elements.
Audit & compliance: Coordinate year-end audit requirements, support statutory reporting and maintain a robust internal control environment.
Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, strengthen controls and make better use of systems and technology.
Leadership: Manage and develop two finance professionals, while acting as a technical accounting lead and providing guidance and coaching across the wider finance team.
There will also be occasional travel to other UK sites.
What they're looking forYou'll be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least two years' post-qualified experience in financial reporting, management accounting, financial control or group reporting.
You'll ideally bring:
Strong experience owning month-end and producing management accounts and reporting packs.
A solid understanding of technical accounting, balance-sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
The confidence to investigate financial movements, challenge constructively and communicate findings to non-finance stakeholders.
Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP and reporting systems.
Experience managing, mentoring or developing others.
A proactive mindset, with the confidence to take ownership and improve existing processes.
Experience within a multi-entity or international Group environment would be advantageous. Exposure to SAP, Cognos or PLC reporting would also be beneficial.
Why consider it?A broad, visible management role reporting directly to the Financial Controller.
Real ownership of financial reporting and the opportunity to influence the wider finance function.
Leadership responsibility for a team of two, alongside technical exposure across the department.
The chance to work closely with senior finance and operational stakeholders.
An established healthcare business operating in a sector where quality, accuracy and strong financial management really matter.
A competitive package of £65,000-£75,000, bonus and excellent benefits.
Hybrid working, with three days per week in the Basingstoke office.
If you're an established qualified accountant looking for a role that combines technical reporting, financial control, leadership and the opportunity to make improvements, I'd be keen to have a conversation.
