Description

Reporting into senior finance leadership, the Assistant Accountant support the production of accurate financial information across multiple entities while helping to drive process improvements and maintain strong financial controls.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Producing trial balances, accruals and prepayments
• Preparing VAT returns and supporting statutory reporting requirements
• Completing supplier, bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Analysing commercial agreements and financial performance data
• Approving supplier payments and customer refunds within agreed limits
• Supporting regulatory and compliance reporting activities
• Liaising with stakeholders across the wider business to ensure financial accuracy
• Assisting with year-end audit preparation and external audit requests
• Identifying opportunities to improve systems, reporting and processes

Profile

You'll likely be an experienced Assistant Accountant looking for a broader role within a growing organisation.

We're interested in speaking with candidates who can demonstrate:

• AAT Level 4 qualification or early level CIMA/ACCA Studier
• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance position
• Strong understanding of month-end accounting processes
• Experience using accounting software and finance systems
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
• Experience working with large volumes of data
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills
• The ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-moving environment
• A proactive mindset and a desire to improve processes and ways of working
