Salary: Circa £40,000 flexible, depending on experience

Role Summary

If you are an experienced commercial account handler looking for genuine autonomy rather than being just another cog in a large processing unit, this move offers something distinct. Based in a newly opened Gloucester office, you will operate as the dedicated broking specialist alongside an established Account Executive and Development Executive. Managing an inherited book of SME accounts and partnering on larger corporate cases, you will enjoy direct visibility from day one, with clear scope to progress towards a Development Executive role as the office expands.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of an inherited, transferred portfolio of predominantly SME commercial clients, giving you an established and stable account base to manage from your first day.
• Partner closely with the resident Account Executive on mid-market cases, renewals, and mid-term adjustments, broadening your technical exposure to larger and more complex commercial risks.
• Handle inbound queries and desktop new business opportunities for SME clients, sharpening your commercial negotiation skills and building your profile in active client development.
• Collaborate directly with regional insurers and underwriters across diverse commercial lines, giving you personal market autonomy and strengthening your standing within the broking community.
• Cross sales and general interest in new business opportunities.

Requirements

• Proven track record in commercial insurance broking or account handling, with the confidence to manage commercial accounts independently without relying on an established handler team.
• Broad technical understanding of core commercial lines, including property, liability, and commercial combined covers.
• Strong client-facing and telephone communication abilities, enabling you to build trusted relationships and manage client reviews effectively.
• CII qualifications such as the Certificate in Insurance, or relevant study towards professional certification, are welcome.
• Interest developing new business is highly beneficial with progression scope to become an account executive over time
