Join One of the UK's Largest Infrastructure Projects
We're recruiting for a Commercial Manager (Cost Control & Forecasting) to join the commercial team supporting the Sizewell C Lead Logistics Partner Programme.
This is a key position within the project, focused on forecasting, cost control, commercial reporting and financial visibility across a major infrastructure operation.
This is not a traditional procurement-focused Quantity Surveying role.
The procurement and subcontract management functions are already supported elsewhere within the team. We're specifically looking for somebody who can own programme forecasting, cost reporting, Estimate at Completion (EAC), Estimate to Complete (ETC), variance analysis and commercial performance reporting.
If your experience is predominantly centred around subcontract procurement, applications, valuations and final accounts, this is unlikely to be the right fit.
If you're the person stakeholders rely on to explain where a project is heading financially, identify emerging risks and provide robust forecasts to support decision-making, we'd like to hear from you.
The Role
Working closely with the Head of Commercial - Nuclear, you'll become the focal point for cost control and forecasting across the Sizewell C logistics programme.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Owning programme budgets, cost baselines and integrated financial forecasts
* Maintaining robust Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC) positions
* Developing and maintaining accurate cost-to-complete forecasts
* Translating operational plans, labour forecasts and activity plans into financial projections
* Monitoring actual expenditure against budget and forecast
* Identifying and explaining cost and commercial variances
* Maintaining visibility of purchase orders, subcontract commitments, accruals and liabilities
* Leading the cost-control element of month-end reporting
* Tracking the financial impact of approved, anticipated and emerging change, including NEC Compensation Events
* Monitoring revenue, cost, margin, risks and opportunities across the programme
* Producing commercial reports and forecasts to support senior management decision-making
* Working closely with Operations, Procurement, Finance, Project Controls and Client stakeholders
Requirements
We're open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds, provided they have strong forecasting and commercial controls experience.
You may currently be working as a:
-Commercial Manager
-Cost Manager
-Cost Engineer
-Senior Quantity Surveyor with significant forecasting responsibilities
-Project Controls Professional
-Commercial Analyst looking to progress into a management role
You'll ideally have:
* Strong project cost management, commercial controls or financial forecasting experience
* Experience within infrastructure, construction, logistics, civil engineering, energy, utilities, nuclear or another major project environment
* Advanced budgeting, forecasting and cost-to-complete capability
* Experience maintaining EAC and ETC positions
* Strong understanding of commitments, accruals, month-end reporting and financial reconciliation
* Excellent analytical and numerical capability
* Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills
* Ability to interrogate data, explain variance and identify forward financial risk
* Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to different stakeholders
* Relevant commercial, cost management, quantity surveying, finance or related qualifications, or equivalent experience
Desirable
* Major infrastructure, nuclear, energy or transport project experience
* NEC3 or NEC4 contract experience
* Cost Engineering or Project Controls experience
* Experience within logistics or supply chain operations
* Working knowledge of commercial reporting and cost-management systems
* Professional qualifications such as RICS, CIMA, ACCA, AAT, CIOB or equivalent
NEC experience is advantageous but not essential. Candidates with strong forecasting and commercial controls experience from other major-project environments are encouraged to apply.
