Title: Assistant Group Accountant – 12 Month FTC

Location: Central London (Hybrid – 1–2 days WFH)

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + benefits

Our client, a multinational commodities trading group, is looking for an Assistant Group Accountant to join its central London finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or finalist ACA / ACCA accountant with group consolidation experience, either from an audit background or an existing industry role. The position offers broad exposure across group reporting, year-end, budgeting, and technical accounting within an international environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly group consolidation process
• Prepare monthly group management accounts and reporting
• Maintain financial results for a number of group and holding entities
• Assist with consolidation journals, intercompany adjustments, and reporting queries
• Support the year-end close and statutory reporting process
• Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries
• Assist with the annual budgeting process
• Work closely with international finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting
• Support technical accounting matters and ad hoc group finance projects
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and finance processes

Role Requirements

• Newly qualified or finalist ACA / ACCA, or equivalent
• Consolidation experience is essential, either from industry or auditing group consolidations
• Candidates making their first move from audit will be considered
• Strong Excel skills
• Good understanding of financial reporting and core accounting principles
• Experience working with auditors, either in practice or industry
• Exposure to technical accounting or financial statements preparation would be advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
• Proactive, organised, and comfortable working to reporting deadlines
• Collaborative approach with an interest in improving processes and reporting
