Shift Maintenance Engineer - Electrical Bias

Location: Renfrewshire, near Glasgow
Salary: £48,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: Three-shift continuous rotation

The Opportunity

MRD Recruitment is working on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business seeking a Shift Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join its Engineering Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served engineer to help maintain the reliability and availability of plant, machinery and equipment in a fast-paced production environment.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns and minimising production downtime.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across plant, machinery and production equipment.

• Diagnosing faults and completing electrical and mechanical breakdown repairs.

• Working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

• Responding to equipment failures to minimise production disruption.

• Supporting plant reliability, equipment availability and continuous improvement.

• Working independently and collaboratively with Engineering and Production teams.

• Maintaining high standards of health and safety and following safe working procedures.

• Providing overtime cover for holidays and absence, alongside occasional weekend preventative maintenance.

About You

We're keen to hear from engineers with a strong electrical foundation and practical experience maintaining industrial equipment.

You'll ideally have:

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship or time-served experience in an electrical or electrical-biased discipline.

• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.

• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

• Practical mechanical maintenance experience, including hydraulics and pneumatics.

• Experience delivering planned and reactive maintenance.

• Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Shift Pattern

The role operates on a three-shift continuous rotation:

• Night shift: Sunday to Thursday, 10pm-6am.

• Early shift: Monday to Friday, 6am-2pm.

• Back shift: Monday to Thursday, 2pm-10pm; Friday, 2pm-7pm.

Average working hours are 39 hours and 40 minutes per week, with overtime available to support departmental cover and weekend maintenance.
