Bournemouth | 1 day per week | £175 to £250 per day | Flexible day | Self employed
Are you an experienced Bookkeeper looking for a genuinely flexible opportunity that could fit alongside other clients, part time work or other commitments?
We’re working with a small, independent film and television production company based in Bournemouth who are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to take ownership of their day to day finance.
It’s a really interesting business working across film and television, including a number of high profile productions. This could be a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with smaller, creative businesses and wants to become a valued part of the team.
The role will initially be one day per week, with flexibility around which day you work and the potential for this to increase a little over time as the business grows.
You’ll be the main finance person within the business, working independently but with the support of an experienced fractional CFO when needed.
What will you be doing? You’ll take ownership of the bookkeeping and month end process, including:
• Managing the day to day bookkeeping through Xero
• Completing month end and VAT returns
• Processing and reconciling supplier invoices, expenses, receipts and bank transactions
• Preparing payment runs and maintaining supplier records
• Raising sales invoices and monitoring incoming payments
• Completing bank and company card reconciliations
• Supporting freelancer payments and production cost tracking
• Producing monthly cost reports showing actual spend, remaining costs to complete and performance against budget
• Providing straightforward cash flow and expenditure information
• Liaising with external accountants, suppliers and other contacts as needed
What are we looking for? You’ll be an experienced, hands on Bookkeeper who is confident working independently and taking ownership of the numbers.
Ideally, you’ll have:
• Strong practical bookkeeping experience
• Good working knowledge of Xero
• Experience managing month end and VAT returns
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience producing cost reports and tracking actual spend against budget
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation
• The confidence to work independently within a small business
Experience within film, television, media, production or another project based environment would be a real advantage, particularly if you’re familiar with production costs, freelancers and project budgets.
Production accounting experience would be ideal, but it isn’t essential if you have strong bookkeeping and cost reporting experience.
Why consider it?The flexibility is a big part of this opportunity.
It could be ideal if you already work with other clients, have another part time role or are building a portfolio career and would like to add a regular day with an interesting creative business.
You’ll have genuine ownership of the finance side while still having support when needed, and there is scope for the role to grow beyond one day per week over time.
£175 to £250 per day, depending on experience.
