The Opportunity

Hays is delighted to be working exclusively with a successful and established business in the North Belfast area to recruit a Group Financial Controller.This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who is ready to take the next step in their career and secure their first Financial Controller position.Reporting directly to an experienced Finance Director, you will have excellent support as you develop in the role, while gaining responsibility for financial reporting, controls, cash management, budgeting and the day-to-day leadership of the finance function.The organisation is looking for someone who can combine strong technical accounting skills with a commercial mindset and develop into a key member of the management team.

The Role

As Group Financial Controller, you will take responsibility for the delivery of timely and accurate financial information across the group while supporting the Finance Director and senior management team.Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and consolidated group reporting
• Analysis of financial performance, including sales, profitability, costs and variances
• Supporting the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and financial projections
• Managing cash flow, banking and foreign currency transactions
• Producing meaningful financial information and KPIs for the management team
• Identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved profitability
• Managing and developing the finance team
• Ensuring balance sheet, bank and intercompany reconciliations are completed accurately
• Overseeing VAT and other statutory financial reporting requirements
• Managing the year-end accounts process and acting as a key contact for external auditors
• Maintaining strong financial controls, procedures and processes
• Working with other departments to improve financial systems and management information
• Supporting the Finance Director with commercial analysis and strategic projects
• Providing financial insight to help support future growth and business decisions

What You'll Need to Succeed

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience gained within a commercial finance environment.You should be able to demonstrate:

• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
• A good understanding of financial controls and accounting processes
• Strong Excel and accounting systems skills
• Commercial awareness and the ability to interpret financial information
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The confidence to work closely with senior management
• An enthusiastic, hands-on and proactive approach
• The ambition to develop your career within a Financial Controller position

Previous experience managing or supervising others would be beneficial, but importantly, this business is interested in individuals who demonstrate the potential and ambition to step up.
