We are working with a well-established accountancy practice in Southend-on-Sea seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who enjoys working closely with owner-managed businesses and providing a high level of service across a varied client portfolio.

The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering accounts and tax services while acting as a trusted point of contact for day-to-day queries.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts
• Producing management accounts
• Preparing corporation tax returns and VAT returns
• Managing a portfolio of SME clients
• Liaising directly with clients and providing ongoing support
• Assisting with tax planning and advisory work where required
• Reviewing bookkeeping records and ensuring compliance deadlines are met
• Supporting junior members of the team where appropriate

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
• ACA or ACCA qualification, or be qualified by experience
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards
• Experience preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Good working knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar
• Excellent communication and client management skills
• A proactive and organised approach to work
