Are you a commercially minded, hands on HR leader who enjoys building people functions, supporting business growth and shaping organisational culture?

We are working with a growing SME in the services sector to recruit a Head of People & Culture. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take ownership of the People agenda, develop effective HR infrastructure and work closely with the senior leadership team to support the next stage of the organisation’s growth.

This role would suit someone who enjoys operating strategically while remaining close to the day to day needs of the business.

The Role
Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will lead the People function, ensuring the organisation has the right people, processes and culture to deliver its objectives.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and delivering a People strategy aligned with business growth and commercial objectives.
  • Building and embedding effective HR policies, processes and systems to support a growing organisation.
  • Leading the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, retention, performance management and employee relations.
  • Coaching and developing managers to improve leadership capability and create a more self sufficient organisation.
  • Supporting organisational design, workforce planning and change management as the business evolves.
  • Driving employee engagement, wellbeing, inclusion and a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment legislation, safeguarding requirements and relevant sector standards.
  • Using people data and insights to inform decision making and improve organisational performance.
  • Developing the People team and ensuring the function delivers a responsive, value adding service to the business.
About You
You will be an experienced HR leader who has worked within a growing SME or fast paced, multi site organisation. You will be comfortable building and developing a People function, establishing robust processes and influencing senior stakeholders.

You will bring:
  • Proven experience in a senior HR or People leadership role.
  • Experience of developing HR functions, policies and infrastructure in a growing organisation.
  • Strong employment law, employee relations and operational HR expertise.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands on approach.
  • Commercial awareness and the confidence to challenge and influence senior leaders.
  • Experience of developing managers, improving employee engagement and supporting organisational change.
  • A pragmatic, approachable and solutions focused style.
Experience within the services sector, a people focused SME or a similarly complex, growing organisation would be advantageous.

Why Apply?
This is an opportunity to take real ownership of the People agenda, influence business strategy and build a function that makes a tangible difference to organisational performance, employee experience and future growth.

If you are ready for a role where you can shape the culture, build effective people infrastructure and have a genuine impact, we would love to hear from you.
