Help Adult Carers Connect, Thrive and Feel Supported Across Surrey

Are you passionate about bringing people together, building community connections and making a real difference to people’s lives?

At Action for Carers Surrey, we support unpaid carers across Surrey who dedicate their time to caring for family members, friends and neighbours. We’re looking for enthusiastic, organised and people-focused individuals to join our Adult Engage & Connect team as Adult Carer Activities & Engagement Coordinators.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing and delivering a varied programme of activities, support groups and events that help carers access support, reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.

As well as organising and delivering activities, you’ll build relationships within local communities, raise awareness of available support and encourage more carers to engage with our hubs, activities and wider services.

What will I be doing?

You will:

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver activities, support groups and events for adult carers.
  • Build awareness of Action for Carers Surrey services within local communities.
  • Increase carer engagement with local hubs, activities and support opportunities.
  • Work directly with carers to understand their interests and needs.
  • Develop relationships with community organisations, venues, facilitators and local partners.
  • Support the promotion and evaluation of activities and events.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure countywide coverage and support.

Where will I work?

This is a community-based role covering local hubs across Surrey.

We currently operate eight core hubs across:

  • Guildford
  • Woking
  • Camberley
  • Addlestone
  • Hersham
  • Epsom
  • Redhill
  • Oxted

Successful candidates will typically support two hub locations, alongside occasional activities and events elsewhere in Surrey as required.

Travel across the county may occasionally be required to provide team cover and support events.

What does a typical month look like?

Each Coordinator will:

  • Deliver regular Coffee & Chat sessions and themed wellbeing activities.
  • Coordinate a minimum of eight activities, groups or events each month.
  • Work closely with carers to encourage participation and ongoing engagement.
  • Support the smooth planning, delivery and evaluation of activities.
  • Build local networks to increase awareness of our services.

Activities may include:

  • Wellbeing workshops
  • Support groups
  • Information sessions
  • Social activities
  • Guest speaker events
  • Creative activities
  • Community outings
  • Specialist activities such as outdoor and leisure experiences

Working Hours

We have 72 hours available in total and are keen to hear from candidates interested in different working arrangements.

We welcome applications from people seeking:

  • Full-time opportunities (36 hours per week)
  • Part-time opportunities (18 hours per week)

Our operational preference is for multiple part-time appointments to provide flexibility and local coverage, but we are open to discussing different arrangements with exceptional candidates.

Please note This role requires flexibility and includes:

  • Daytime working
  • Regular planned Saturday working
  • Occasional evening working

All weekend and evening commitments are planned in advance wherever possible.
