Interim Assistant Accountant | Mission-Led E-Commerce Brand | London

The Client

Harmonic is delighted to be partnering with a mission-led, B Corp certified brand whose products have become popular across the UK and beyond. Selling in high volumes through its own e-commerce site, Amazon and wholesale partners, the business is midway through a finance transformation: processes are being automated, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is being pushed further, and a newly built offshore team is taking on more of the transactional workload.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Finance, this is a hands-on, all-round 3-month interim role, with the potential to extend. You will run day-to-day finance across AP, AR, GL and fixed assets through to trial balance, support month-end and the upcoming external audit, and own the e-commerce, payment and stock reconciliations. You will also become the team's Business Central expert, training colleagues (including the offshore team) and working with the Head of Finance to get more out of the system and take manual work out of the process. An experienced member of the team will be on hand to support the handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day finance across AP, AR, GL and fixed assets, through to trial balance.
• Support month-end close, prepare balance sheet reconciliations and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Reconcile Shopify, Amazon and payment gateway transactions in a high-volume, low-value environment.
• Support inventory accounting and stock reconciliations across e-commerce and wholesale channels.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the upcoming external audit, and respond to auditor queries.
• Identify ways to improve how Business Central is used, including reporting and automation.
• Work with the Head of Finance to streamline processes, strengthen controls and reduce manual work.
• Train and support team members on finance processes and Business Central best practice.

Essential Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Solid knowledge of AP, AR, GL and fixed assets, with experience preparing a trial balance.
• Experience in inventory accounting and stock reconciliations.
• Background in a high-volume e-commerce and/or wholesale business, including Shopify, Amazon and payment gateway reconciliations.
• Good Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliations.
• Confident training others and supporting an audit, with a practical approach to process improvement.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working with or supporting an offshore or outsourced finance team.
• A track record of automating processes or improving reporting within Business Central.

Day Rate: £175 - £250 per day, dependent on experience

Contract: 3-month interim contract, with the potential to extend

Location: Old Street, London, hybrid, 3 days per week in the office
