Residential Development Solicitor, Team Leader, Newark, Nottinghamshire

A highly regarded regional law firm is looking to recruit an experienced Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer to lead its Residential Development team in Newark.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced property lawyer looking to combine high-quality residential development work with genuine responsibility for leading and developing a specialist team.

The team acts for a varied client base including national and regional housebuilders and developers, with the successful candidate handling matters throughout the lifecycle of residential developments.

The Role

You will manage your own caseload of Residential Development matters while taking responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and continued development of the team.

The work will include:

• Site set-up work and residential development transactions
• Drafting and negotiating development and infrastructure documentation
• Section 38, 104, 106 and 278 Agreements
• Plot sales, exchanges, completions and post-completion matters
• Management company documentation and estate management arrangements
• Leasehold transactions and bulk sales
• Advising on and establishing management companies and alternative estate management structures
• Liaising with developers, local authorities, utility providers, highway authorities and other stakeholders
• Providing practical and commercially focused advice to developer clients throughout the development process

Alongside your own fee-earning work, you will lead and support colleagues within the team, providing technical guidance and mentoring where required.

You will also play an important role in the continued growth of the department, developing existing client relationships, supporting business development initiatives and identifying opportunities to generate new work.

The Candidate

Applications are welcomed from experienced Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executives and Licensed Conveyancers with a strong background in property and, ideally, Residential Development and New Homes work.

You should be comfortable managing your own caseload and dealing directly with developer clients, with strong technical knowledge and the ability to provide clear and commercially focused advice.

Previous supervisory or team leadership experience would be advantageous, although applications are also welcomed from experienced lawyers who are ready to take the next step into a broader leadership position.

You will need strong communication and organisational skills, a proactive approach and the ability to build lasting relationships with both clients and colleagues.
