Stores & Inventory Manager

• Hourly Rate: £14-16 PAYE

We are seeking an experienced Stores & Inventory Manager with a strong background in engineering, manufacturing, MRO, or supply chain to lead our Stores operation. This role involves taking responsibility for the team, inventory accuracy, stock control, goods movements, and ensuring the delivery of a safe and reliable service.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Lead and manage the Stores Team, setting daily priorities and ensuring operational coverage.
• Manage inventory accuracy and conduct perpetual inventory/cycle counting.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Control stock adjustments and ensure proper authorisation processes are followed.
• Oversee the complete movement of goods through Stores, including goods-in, inspection, put-away, issuing, returns, quarantine, credits, and delivery handover.
• Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded within the inventory systems.
• Maintain stock availability through ROP/ROQ controls, consignment arrangements, and replenishment processes.
• Identify and manage excess, obsolete, slow-moving, redundant, damaged, or unidentified stock.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety, security, housekeeping, and 5S.
• Take ownership of Stores-related customer issues and ensure resolution.
• Monitor and report on Stores KPIs, inventory performance, and audit evidence.
• Coach and develop the team to ensure trained coverage across critical processes.
• Work closely with Customer Operations, Import Specialists, teams, suppliers, and logistics partners.
• Identify and deliver continuous improvements across Stores layout, productivity, processes, stock availability, inventory accuracy, stockholding, and waste reduction.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong Stores and inventory management experience within an MRO, engineering, manufacturing, or supply-chain environment.
• Proven experience leading and managing a team.
• Knowledge of physical Stores operations and stock-control processes.
• Experience with perpetual inventory/cycle counting and investigating stock variances.
• Knowledge of controlled stock adjustment processes and inventory auditing.
• Proficiency in using inventory management systems and data.
• Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in improving inventory accuracy, stock availability, and working capital.
• Excellent customer and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to make operational decisions and maintain strong operational, safety, and financial controls under pressure.
