About the Role

Remedy Tutors is looking for caring, patient and enthusiastic EOTAS Tutors to support children and young people across Bromley who receive, or require, Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS).

You'll provide personalised one-to-one tuition to learners who may be unable to access a traditional school environment and need a more flexible, individualised approach to education.

Tuition may take place in the student's home or another suitable learning environment, depending on the placement. You'll help students develop their academic skills, rebuild confidence and work towards meaningful educational progress at their own pace.

This is a rewarding opportunity for tutors who are passionate about inclusive education and supporting young people who face barriers to learning.

Maths and English are essential subjects for this role. Tutors who can teach additional subjects are also encouraged to apply.

About the Students

You may work with children and young people who have a range of needs, including:

  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

  • Autism (ASC/ASD)

  • ADHD

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • Anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)

  • Dyslexia and dyscalculia

  • Speech, language and communication needs

  • Sensory processing needs

  • Gaps in learning or disrupted education

  • Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

  • Difficulties accessing mainstream education

Every student has individual strengths, needs and learning goals. We aim to match tutors to referrals based on their experience, subject knowledge, location and availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering tailored one-to-one Maths and English tuition.

  • Supporting primary, secondary and GCSE-level learners.

  • Planning engaging lessons suited to each student's abilities and needs.

  • Adapting teaching methods to accommodate individual SEND requirements.

  • Identifying gaps in learning and monitoring progress.

  • Helping students develop confidence, motivation and independence.

  • Supporting individual learning objectives and EHCP outcomes where appropriate.

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with learners.

  • Maintaining appropriate session records and progress updates.

  • Communicating with parents, carers and relevant professionals when required.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from:

  • Experienced EOTAS and alternative provision tutors.

  • SEN/SEND tutors and specialist educators.

  • Qualified teachers with experience supporting additional needs.

  • Home tutors and outreach tutors.

  • Private tutors with relevant educational experience.

  • Teaching assistants with strong Maths and English knowledge.

  • Graduates with suitable tutoring or educational experience.

You should be patient, reliable, adaptable and confident working independently with children and young people who may have experienced difficulties accessing education.

Experience supporting learners with autism, ADHD, SEMH, anxiety or school avoidance would be advantageous.

QTS is not essential for every placement, provided you have suitable experience and subject knowledge. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred.

Essential Subject Expertise
  • Maths

  • English

Experience teaching both subjects is essential.
