HGV Class 2 Driver
Fleets stay moving when the right tyres arrive in the right condition, on the promised day. This role puts a skilled rigid-HGV driver at the centre of that promise: collecting casings, delivering quality retreads, and giving workshops and transport managers a delivery they can plan around. Done well, every run protects uptime, cuts wasted miles, and keeps a circular tyre supply chain working.
Performance Objectives
* Complete planned multi-drop routes on time, with delivery and collection paperwork accurate enough that customers and the depot do not need a follow-up call.
* Load, secure, and unload tyres and related fleet products without damage, shortages, or unsafe manual handling.
* Return vehicles and trailers of equipment roadworthy: daily walkaround checks completed, defects reported before they become breakdowns, and tachograph and hours rules observed without exception.
* Represent the service on the customer yard—confirm quantities, note access or product issues, and escalate urgent fleet needs the same day.
* Hit agreed collection targets for usable casings so retread production is not starved of material.
* Keep fuel, idle time, and avoidable damage inside team standards, and close each shift with a clear handover for the next run.
Environment & Resources
You will work from a UK tyre-distribution depot alongside planners, warehouse colleagues, and a transport lead, serving commercial fleets and tyre outlets. The role uses well-maintained rigid HGVs, on-board recording, and a delivery schedule set with you—not dumped on you. Routing support, load plans, and a clear defect-reporting line are in place so you can focus on safe, complete runs.
Essential Qualifications
* Full UK Category C (HGV Class 2) licence and a current Driver CPC, with the right to work and drive professionally in the UK.
* A clean, explainable driving record and recent rigid-vehicle experience on multi-drop or industrial delivery work.
* Confident daily vehicle checks, load security, and digital or analogue tachograph use within drivers’ hours.
* Physical ability to handle tyres safely, with a practical approach to manual handling and yard safety.
* Clear communication with planners and customers, and a habit of accurate counts and paperwork.
Role Selling Points
* Work that is easy to explain and hard to fake: tyres delivered, casings recovered, fleets kept rolling.
* A long-standing retread and fleet-service operation, not a one-contract haulage desk.
* Daytime, depot-based runs with known customers rather than anonymous trunking.
* A practical team that measures success by on-time, damage-free deliveries—not by how many hours you can absorb.
* £46,000 Salary
