Credit Controller – 12-Month FTC

Location: Walsgrave, Coventry
Salary: Up to £31,000 per annum
Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days office-based

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Credit Controller to join an established finance team based in Coventry on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their own ledger, building relationships with customers and playing a key role in reducing outstanding debt.

You will be responsible for managing customer accounts, chasing overdue payments, resolving disputes and working closely with internal teams to ensure payments are collected efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage your own portfolio of customer accounts, focusing on overdue payments and aged debt.

• Proactively chase outstanding invoices via telephone and email.

• Investigate and resolve payment disputes, liaising with customers and internal departments.

• Review aged debt reports and prioritise collection activity.

• Follow up on payment promises and agreed repayment plans.

• Process card payments and assist with cash allocation and credit note queries.

• Make decisions around order releases and account holds, escalating credit limit reviews where required.

• Maintain accurate account records and support the wider credit control team.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• Previous experience working in a busy Credit Control environment.

• A proven track record of managing customer accounts and collecting overdue debt.

• Confidence communicating with customers over the phone and handling challenging conversations.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.

• Good Excel skills and attention to detail.

• Experience working with internal stakeholders to resolve queries and disputes.
