Turn the numbers into decisions in a fast-moving distribution business

Elevation are exclusively partnered with a successful, well-established distribution business headquartered in Bradford to appoint a Management Accountant. Operating across a network of depots, the business runs at pace, and the leadership team wants sharper insight into where it performs well and where it can improve.

This isn’t a role about producing reports and moving on. You’ll be close to the operation, working with senior managers to explain what’s really driving the numbers and helping them make better decisions on cost, efficiency and profitability. If you’re curious by nature and enjoy asking “why?” you’ll find plenty to get stuck into here.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you’ll own cost reporting and performance analysis across the business, with real scope to shape how performance is reported as the business develops.

What you’ll be doing

  • Maintaining accurate cost schedules that feed meaningful monthly variance analysis
  • Investigating actual against budget performance and getting to the story behind the numbers
  • Carrying out detailed cost analysis across departments and depots to highlight risks and opportunities
  • Producing clear monthly performance reports that stakeholders actually use
  • Partnering with senior managers to improve operational performance and profitability
  • Tracking cost trends and making practical recommendations on spend and efficiency
  • Supporting the annual budget and regular forecasts
  • Developing and improving performance reporting, with the chance to make greater use of Power BI
  • Supporting the audit process and keeping financial information accurate and robust
  • Providing ad hoc analysis on projects across the business

About you

  • CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified (or close to finishing)
  • Solid experience in cost control, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets
  • Power BI experience would be a real plus
  • Commercially minded, organised and accurate, with a genuine eye for detail
  • Comfortable building relationships and challenging thinking with colleagues at every level

If this sounds like the kind of role where you’d make an impact, apply here and We'll reach out to arrange a conversation.
