RETAIND are recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist to take a hands-on role in coordinating machining activities for an established manufacturer of mechanical equipment used within the construction sector.
Working in a clean, modern facility, you will programme, set and operate a Hurco milling machining centre and lathe, producing one-off and prototype components. Alongside machining, you will help plan workflow, develop manufacturing procedures and ensure work is completed to schedule and right first time.
The role:
● Programme, set and operate CNC milling and turning machinery to produce precision components.
● Organise and plan CNC machine workloads to meet scheduled deadlines.
● Develop CNC programmes and work procedures to improve efficiency and optimise machining times.
● Design and manufacture jigs and fixtures to support accurate, repeatable production.
● Source and purchase the cutting tools and associated tooling required for planned work.
● Support new product introduction (NPI), contributing to the design and machining of prototype products.
● Interpret engineering drawings covering machining and fabrication, ensuring all required manufacturing processes are planned.
● Inspect components throughout production, maintaining a strong focus on quality and right-first-time delivery.
● Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
About you:
● Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling and turning machinery, ideally including Hurco machines.
● Confident in organising workloads and coordinating machining activities to meet deadlines.
● Able to develop machining methods, select tooling and design practical jigs and fixtures.
● Experience producing one-off, prototype or small-batch components.
● An excellent understanding of technical engineering drawings and the relationship between machining and fabrication processes.
● A keen eye for quality, a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
● Experience supporting prototype development and new product introduction would be advantageous.
Working hours:
Monday – Thursday: 8.30am – 4.30pm
2.30pm finish on Friday
