Interim Head of Finance

Location: Derby (Mainly remote working, with 2/3 day a month in the office)
Contract: Interim 6-12 Months
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Head of Finance to join a growing SME during a significant period of business change and transition.

This is a highly visible role where you will take full ownership of the finance function, supporting the business through an important transformation project while ensuring robust financial management and reporting. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will play a key role in maintaining financial stability, providing commercial insight, and supporting future integration activities.

The Role

As the standalone finance lead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finance function. This is a hands-on position requiring someone who enjoys operating both strategically and operationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Cash flow forecasting, monitoring and working capital management
• Oversight of purchase ledger and creditor management
• Management of sales invoicing processes
• Consolidation of financial information across multiple entities
• Balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
• Budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
• Providing meaningful financial insight and commentary to stakeholders
• Working with outsourced payroll providers and reviewing payroll reports
• Supporting business change, integration and improvement projects
• Liaising with external accountants and advisers when required

About You

We are seeking an experienced and qualified finance professional who can quickly establish themselves within a standalone role and provide confidence during a period of transition.

You will have:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
• Previous experience leading a finance function independently
• Strong management and financial accounting experience
• Excellent cash flow management skills
• Experience producing monthly management accounts from start to finish
• Strong Excel capability
• A proactive and hands-on approach
• Experience supporting business transformation, change or integration activities

Desirable:

• QuickBooks experience
• Multi-entity consolidation experience
• Previous interim or SME finance leadership experience
